Day 8 - Board Game M-term (Kat B)

During day 8  we worked on our board games for the first 45 minutes of the day and then I led the group in a group game called Mystery at Magnolia Gardens, where we were the detectives and had to solve who tried to murder Florence. The game gives you clues and you need to piece it together and use the items given in the box to find who did it and why. The game was difficult and players eventually couldn't find out who did it.I personally believe the game didn’t exactly work out because there was a lack of teamwork, and a lot of the members of the group didn't want to work together and or wouldn't help with gathering clues, which made the game a lot harder, considering the game is built on teamwork. Later, after the game, we watched Clue: The Movie, which was fun. People enjoyed the movie and didn't see the plot twist coming, which made it fun to watch. The movie is one of my personal favorites so it was fun to see the others' reactions to the movie. The one thing I think we could all agree on is the movie definitely had some outdated beliefs in it and some uncomfortable moments but that came with the style and authors intent for the movie and in some ways made some of the scenes more comedic as it was obviously poking fun at the old beliefs.

      Today was the first day so we started by going over what we were going to be doing over the course of M-Term and our scheduled outings. after we did that, we got into 2 groups and played some board games such as Life, Uno, Clue, and Chess.         After that, we had lunch for about an hour, and when we came back, we started to work on our presentations about different games. We had to make a short presentation about what the game was, where it came from, how to play and anything that we thought was interesting about the game. We had planned to present them that day but decided to present them on Wednesday instead and played a group game called Mafia, which is a game with three roles, murder, healer, and detective.      Today was a fun start to our M-Term. Day 3- Board Games M-Term (Michelle & Daniel)

 On day 3, the creator of Overcoffee came to speak with us. We played with the game and had a lot of fun. I loved being able to share with no judgment and I really think I will be playing this game more. She inspired a lot of us because she really listened to herself to create this game and I think the information she told us would help us create our own games.

Day 9: Art of Board Games (Kenna)

 Today, we spent the first hour of our day doing the finishing touches to our made-up board games. This included anything else in the game that needed to be completed, and doing test runs to ensure that the game worked well for the players. Then, for the remainder of the morning, we all spent time playing each other's board games. In the afternoon, Michelle's mom came as a visitor and taught everyone how to play Mahjong and gave useful tips and insight on the game. We all had a lot of fun presenting our games to one another and learning a new game to play.
